my speedometer stopped working, got it checked out and they told me its the whole cluster thats not working. The speed sensor is fine. my questions is if i buy a new cluster online and install it will the mileage stay the same , would it update itself? or will it have the mileage that's on the used cluster.

 

Has anything else stopped working ?
If the entire cluster was bad, then one could assume that a fuse or connector is causing the problem.....have them checked before replacing the cluster.

 

Just the speedometer is not working, the odometer and all gas and other things are working fine.

 

Hey I03, Ya said that the VSS speed sensor was ok......unsure, but I think there's actually two of them.....an input and also an output speed sensor ?

 

You can buy just the speedometer and install that for 30 bucks new. If you replace the whole cluster you will loose your mileage and get the mileage from that cluster. Mileage is kept on the cluster.

You can get the speedometer cluster only and simply replace that. It's fairly easy to remove the whole cluster, then take it apart and swap just the speedometer section. It pulls right off the board as an assembly.
