you only need a new filter before IF the oil looks like total crud AND you plan to do the extended miles method of cleaning--then its possible to overload the filter if it was already near full--not likely on normal engine~

the filter holds less than 1/2 qt,,with the seafoam added you will still be in the range for correct oil level--ck dipstick if concerned and and a few ounces of oil _ I never have

use 1.5 oz per qt oil- basically 1/2 can seafoam into oil
either drive 30 minutes and change oil, or drive over the course of a week with some 30 minute runs if possible
its heat and time that make seafoam work best

Important to change warm!!-15 minute freeway cruise, so all the sludge is liquid, or it stays on the bottem of the oil pan instead of draining out

any full synthetic will outperform gtx high milage. and using 10w-30 is unnecessary. i am using castrol edge 5w-30, very good oil. as well as mobil1 ep, vavoline syn power and pennzoil ultra. redline and amsoil are the best oils though.

the new edge is suppose to be reformulated with titanium and be better than the old edge, believe its available in 5 quart jugs at walmart now. I dont buy into castrols marketing junk and crazy tv ads. But edge is an excellent oil, runs smooth and powerful, also provides extended drain intervals. Im pretty impressed with my current fill and might stick with edge, engine runs great with edge probably run it out to 10k miles interval. Also mobil 1 extended performance is excellent for the money, iv used that with confidence in many applications. if you shell out a little more cash you can go amsoil or redline for ultimate oil performance.

also dont forget to get a good oil filter, especially if you plan on running extended drain intervals.

all the major well kwown brands have their own ads with their own marketing junk, so whats different about castrol? (when i run dino oil for engine break in [or whenever i don't want to use synthetic] i use castrol)

and btw a good oil filter is recommended every time (and maybe even change it half way through, if you must do really extended oil changes)

I use Royal Purple assuming it's the best oil for the car. Would you guys say that the OEM Honda filter is the best filter for the car? Price is no object, so I'm just trying to find the best stuff.

there are better ones out there, but there are also worse ones too

personally i use carquest's 85334 BLUE line filter (not the red line one, which is their cheaper one)
and i think i pay like $10 or something for it ( don't know exact lol)

and as far as the synthetic oil, i use schaffer's oil (can be kinda hard to find at times though) http://www.schaefferoil.com/

and here is a kinda funny story about using it too, last December i did a baseline dyno run on my car, after having swapped to a 6-speed, and i noticed the shop was also using schaffer's oil too, cause one of the boxes was on the ground to help pick up any oil drips on on the dyno; and they like the oil also
