Road Noise after Tranny Replaced

I recently had to have a new transmission put in my 2002 3.2 tls (just three months after the 7 year 9 month extended warranty lapsed, of course). Now, I'm hearing very loud road noise from front left wheel-- tied to speed, not RPMs -- that go away when turning right. I'm thinking, bad bearings maybe? Could the mechanic have screwed something up while replacing the tranny that would cause this noise, or do I just have that bad of luck? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
