Rear view mirror...

My rear view mirror is fine, everything still works. I dont even use the auto dim because i have tinted windows. However, reading up on the problems that may come from it, should i just get a new one? I dont want it exploding all over me or my car.

I would advise replacement. If the mirror explodes your console etc. will be very ugly afterwards. I also advise having a professional do it....no cracked windscreen which is easier to do than you might think.

The mirrors rarely just explode at random. Usually they get a darkened shadow of death gradually through time. Mine had that for a couple of years before I finally decided to swap it out with a new one. There are "DIY"s for installing the new mirror. Why pay somebody an hour's labor ?

I would just leave it, I think problems with the rear view mirror are really rare.

If its showing signs of deterioration then maybe replace it. If you go that direction don't be scared of the window just search out the correct removal procedure. it takes all of 20min a philips and a flat screwdriver.
