Rear Brake Pad Replacement

Hi Guys,
I need to replace the rear pads on my daughter's 1999 TL. Rotors are in good shape and really don't even need tuning. So I am thinking about just sticking in a new set of pads. I am a reasonable mechanic. I would appreciate it if someone could give some instructions and watch out for this or that information.

thanks, david

How About I Add Help ?

Hey guys,
Did I do something wrong in my request for help? 31 views and no one who has replaced the rear brake pads on a '99 TL?

I looked at the brakes the other night and it looks pretty straight forward. It looks like the emergency brake must be on the front because there is nothing to indicate that it is arranged with the rear calipers. Is this a simple process of just pressing in the pistions and clipping the pads in place?

thanks, david

The rears are very easy. The rear parking brake is a drum style lolcated in the hub of the rotor. the piston just pushes in to replace the pads its a simple procedure

Thanks guys, this was just what I was looking for. I thought would be simple, but you never know. And.........with as much mech. expertise that is on this board I thought it better to ask first rather than cry later.

thanks again, david

Thanks for the Help

I really appreciate the help. I have already made sure my parts store has the pads and plan on taking the daughter's car for routine maintenance on Saturday. Child abuse for an 18 year old.I don't know how she is going to take being grounded for a couple of hours Saturday afternoon. I could let her have my Element, but then I don't think so. If I did that I would miss a little entertainment value in watching her walk past the garage 20 times to make sure I an not sitting next to the car reading a magazine or goofing off while she is stranded at home.

heh heh. that would be a funny site. you should make her help you. then she'll really lose her mind. or tell her you broke something and shield your face.
