Really Confusing Headlight Issue!!!
Really Confusing Headlight Issue!!!
I continue to have little issues here and there with my '03 TL.
This might have been answered already but most threads seem to confuse me even more....
Earlier today, the right headlight (low beam) turned pink/purple then completely died.
I didn't want to buy those expensive bulbs without fully checking things, so I moved the right headlight bulb to the left and the left one to the right.
When I turned the headlights on, the right side still had an issue. It started out with pink/purple and died after a few minutes.
What exactly is causing this issue? If something needs to be replaced, is it fairly simple process? Lastly, how much would it cost?
Thanks a bunch guys!!!

Ahhh...it seems that your right ballast is destroying your bulbs. You have a faulty ballast/ignitor combo. You need to buy new ballasts. Not a difficult job. You need to remove the bumper to remove the headlights and ballasts. Search the forums here for instructions.
You may want to consider updating the old ignitor/ballast with the newer water resistant kits available from www.hidextra.com at considerable cost savings over original parts.
pink purple at startup is the bulbs age death warning
may as well replace the system with modern parts for only 59$ www.hidextra.com
get the 5000k bulbs
find coupons online for 10% discount!
couple hour diy, basic electrical connection work,,a little looking and figuring it out
water gets inside the lens and drips out onto ballast- fries system
new parts are waterproof
