Randomly not starting 03 tl-s

Hey guys, been reading around trying to find a solution to my issue. I turn the key and dash lights come on, I turn to start everything goes off and nothing. Sounded like ignition switch so I went ahead and replaced. Battery is good and fully charged. Still having problem afterwards. Turn key to start and sounds like starter solenoid clicks but nothing. To me sounds like solenoid needs replacing but do I have to replace the whole starter? Could it be anything else? All the threads seem to not have any conclusive info confirming related issues.

You can try and find the solenoid only and replace that but usually with the amount of effort, people just replace the whole starter. It really is just the solenoid that goes bad though and is the part that gets refurbished into reman starters.

you ckd aftermarket = parts stores?
starter/solenoid its not too common a problem but its happened
you did replace the back electrical part of switch? did it look melted or burnt inside?
ck that- it will help in diagnosing

ck fuses for starter and ignition, ck relays for them= swap relays of same color to test function

old school = would tap the starter with a hammer a few times and try again

Yeah, tap the starter or try bypassing the starting circuit by directly jumpering the starter carefully.

Didn't understand first question but I only use oem parts. If you talking about solenoid, I'm going to try and find what company manufactures the oem solenoid.
Yes I replaced electrical part of switch running from back of key cylinder to fuse box. Did not crack old one open yet but I imagine it is good. I have tapped starter but did not do anything. It starts when it wants to.

I am going to check connections at starter and condition of cables when I get back to town. Try to sort down the problem rather than wasting money on parts. I need a built block ATM. Been putting tl off for my 5th gen civic but I need to get this car reliable or get another Lexus. Can't have a unreliable work car!

my aftermarket question was about--- the solenoid may be avail by itself there
No problem using aftermarket starter- once you have priced the OE!

pop that ignition switch open - it will help us diagnosing if it hurt something further down the line,,as simple as the relay can be at fault
Also of interest would be the broken solder problem UNDER relay box
ck our diy or search - its been found and fixed by many

Do you think it is immobilizer? If you put the key in ignition and turn to (2) the one just before start. ANd your dash board and radio should come on. Above your Gas gauge there is a green key light. If it is blinking that means it is the immobilizer. check that, i thought i had a starter issue too but it was the immobilizer all along.

If it is immobilizer, put your car in drive and then put the key in ignition and turn to start, shift up to neutral and it should bypass the immobilizer.

Op had replaced ignition switch, didn't help. Is in process of troubleshooting starter's solenoid and wiring. Unsure of outcome yet.
