Question on a rattle noise on my 03 TL
Hi everyone, I have had this 03 Acura TL for about 6 months now. I really love it so far. It started making a clattering noise that I was wondering if anyone might know what it is. It only makes the noise when you are driving it and accelerating when its cold. When you start it in the mornings and let it sit and idle it doesnt do it, only when you drive and accelerate. After the car gets to temp it goes away completely. Car drives really nice otherwise. Sometimes when you turn a corner to the left you can hear it. More of a clattering not rattling noise. And not pinging at all. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much.
Welcome iluvzoomer!
Can you isolate the sound? Is it from the right or left or rear? A rattling sound could be any thing. Sometimes the shield for the rotor gets bent or the cover on the exhaust.

What all have ya checked so far ?Have the suspension/steering and brakes checked.

More than likely something worn or loose up underneath, maybe the exhaust, axle, bearing ?
Had the same issue this week, turned out is was the upper heat shield on the converter, the area around one of the screws on the shield rusted away. I installed a couple of SS hose clamps over the shield, rattle gone.

Is there a check engine light ? Maybe internal damage has occurred to the catalyst.
Like 3.2TLc and Nicks mentioned it can be a loose shield or brake system related.
Or one of your axles is going.
