Problem when first starting car
Problem when first starting car
I have 2000 3.2TL and when I first start the car, and begin driving the car kind of stalls and the rpms drop for a second and its back to normal. I know its not the tranny bc I just got a new one and it only happens when i first start the car. What could it be? Please help me out
There are many things that can cause that behavior.
Here are a couple of quick suggestions:
- A failing ignition switch. There was a ignition switch recall for my 1999 TL but I don't know if that applies to any other TL model years. If the recall does apply, Acura will install a replacement for free. They will only do this once.
My TL is on its third ignition switch so these can and do fail.
- A sticky IACV (Idle Air Control Valve): These can be cleaned.
Search the forum for "engine" and "stalls" for many more suggestions.
Good luck.
