I'm going tomorrow afternoon to maybe take home a 2002 tl-s with 77k miles.
What are some areas that are potentially prone to disaster besides the transmission? I want to have my mechanic specifically look over any of these certain areas.

Since you know about the tranny already, I'd say the motor mounts also.

Can't really think of anything else because the car only has 77k miles.

105k is the timing belt service so you've got a ways to go

 

I just ran the carfax and it had a front end accident....
And 7k miles ago the tranny was replaced by an acura dealership.

Should I be leery to buy a car that has been in a accident?

 

how bad was the wreck? do you have access to repair records? How much they want for the car? Some think once a car has been wrecked it will never be the same..IMO it depends on how severe..

side note from what I recall I think carfax only reports major wrecks...something to think about

Carfax shows that it has been serviced every 3-4 k miles by a local acura dealership, it has a 6k mile old transmission, and the brake pads are new with resurfaced rotors.

 

whomever youre buying from should supply previous owner info-call them up and find out details regarding the wreck..
