My malfunction light stays on since last night and the manual suggests not to drive the car at high speed because it might damage the emssion system. The care is 2003 tl s and has 50000 km. I need to go home from Windsor to London (200 km) in a few hours. Any suggestion? thanks

 

What was the last thing you did before the light came on
IS it the CEL light
IS the gas cap on with at least 3 clicks

 

Is it the Maintenance Required light or teh Check engine light???

 

I checked the gas cap, it was fine.
it was the light above the VSA. no other lights were on.
I was shopping for my departmental BBQ and put 2 cases bottle water and 2 cases of pop, 3 water melons and some other stuff in the trunk and then the light came on later Wed night. The car runs fine. A bit concern.

 

OK - you got home safe right?
Now take it to a parts store that pulls codes for free and tell us what they say
Or get it to the dealer- you should still be under emissions warranty (not sure outside usa warranties) Call the Dealer

 

I left the car in the garage for 2 days and the malfunction light went off.
