Hey guys hopefully you can help me out! When i start up my car for about 11 secs the Maint Reqd light blinks and then goes off? what does this mean? I have never seen this before happen to my car? Should i worry? Please feedback ASAP thanks!!

 

It is oil change reminder. It can be turned off by putting the key in ON position, then hold trip and reset buttons for 10 seconds and it will be turned off.

 

It's described in your owner's manual.

actually acutee thats backwards--your method will cause the system to enter outside temp indicator adjustment

to reset the oil light press and hold both trip buttons THEN turn the the key to ON,,not start just ON
the mait light will flash 10 times and go out
turn key off
tip: slide left hand thru upper part of steering wheel to press the buttons

it starts blinking at startup ~6000 miles since last reset--hopefully at last oil change
It gets more insistant as it nears 7500 when it goes on solid and stays on until reset.

Means nothing but miles recorded--not an indicator of oil condition or level

guess how I found out about the temp adjuster~

 

Me telling you

 

All props to my Guru of Gen2,,helped me a lot when I started,,,now passes the torch
(sorry-no thanks! = busy running from responsabilty ---lost 11 lbs already!!)

 

Mine came on also then I changed my oil, but the light is still flashing. I'm going to see if it still flashes even though I changed the oil or if it will sense that I did and go away on its own.

 

please read the post above re: resetting the meter
YOU have to do it
we dont have any oil condition sensing! (thats a gen3 item)
it just counts miles since last reset

 

Yea sorry.
It never-ever-never goes away.
just sits there flashing every little bit.

 

so,,,lets make sure I was clear on the procedure ok

you place the key in the ignition
slide left hand thru upper part of steering wheel,
to press and HOLD BOTH BUTTONS IN = mileage/trip indicator and reset button below it

now with right hand turn key to ON,, not to start- just ON,, so all the dash lights come on
the MAIT light will flash 10 times ~10 seconds and go out
turn key OFF
remove hands
DONE

if that doesnt work...cut a small piece of black tape and place on top of light!
Write mileage down so you know when its time again,,
thats how we did it in the old days! basic math~
