my car just recently starting having A problem with starting, unless the green key signal light is on, the car wont start. i took it to my mechanic he thinks its the key cylinder or the ignition switch or maybe the whole ignition. the car will start with no problem if the green key signal is on, with out that it wont crank. anyone have this same problem and could it just be the ignition switch idk i need help.

 

Normally if the Key doesnt get Read the Car will Crank but there will be No Ignition Nor Fuel Pump (Thats our Anti-Theft System). If this is the Problem your key must be Damaged, Just get a Brand New Key Linked to your Car! It should fix that problem.

If your car Reads the Key but Still dont Crank it must be the Starter...

 

it cranks aslong as the green key signal is showing on the cluster, it stalls and then the key signal flashes on the cluster and goes away then i crant crank it. its weird

 

i think is the ignition cable need to be replace. what year is your TL??

 

Yes its the key! If it stalls as fast as you crank it theres no Ignition or Fuel Pump a Fast way to prove it its to gas (Sustain) the Car it should try to Run but as soon as you release the Gas it should Stall. Thats a Key Problem it Happened to Me Once.

 

Do the keys have a batter or such in them that needs replacing?

Could this happen while driving? I was sitting at a light today and my car started to stutter then stalled.

 

has your egr system been cleaned?
major prob on 99s, and system needs cleaning every 75kmiles on later years,,sooner on 99s

the ignition swich can go bad,,even if replaced before
99s,,again a recall on that but same quality part was used
try one from auto parts store, only need the back half- the electrical part

Have you damaged the key? have another to try?
you have to order the right one and program to your car

 

ck battery cables--the main ground wire
plus the small `braided bare wire` ones-- from frame to engine or trans

parts stores ck batt and alt for FREE, make sure the car has proper voltage to run everything at idle and at 2000 rpm
any codes pulled? parts stores do that too (except Ca.)
