Just had a new transmission installed (under waranty) at 68000 mi. on my '00' TL. On the way home I noticed a high pitched whine that follows rising or falling rpms. It's coming from the transmission, not the radio. Is this the extra pump for 2nd gear? I had one installed on my old transmission and never noticed any extra noise. Thanks.

the jet kit isnt a pump and there isnt a pump for it, if its noticible id bring it back

I just had my 03 tl tranny replaced and 3 months later it started to whine like the radio noise. Guess what ? I took it in for the 75k maintnance and they are going to have to replace the tranny again...found out that they are rebuilt tranny's. not new ones.. Not good

when i bought this car, i noticed a slight whine, like a blower spooling up only in firrst gear from a light, after a shift to 2nd, nothing, i listened to my moms acura which is just a 2003 tl-p, orig tranny, maybe 15k on the car and it was quiet like it should be, just assumed it was what made it the s type version different? mine does have a replaced tranny in it according to the dealer.

Take it to dealer anmd have them check it . they said it was slipping and I guess thenwhine was pawert of the problem. but using rebu9lt trannys to replace their defective one s is not good

Duh! A rebuilt is like a new one any way. The replace the worn internals. There is no need to replace the whole thing including the case.

Right now the 3rd gen TL is already in the 3rd model year, and the car is not even using the crappy 2nd gen tranny. Honda has stopped building new (and crappy) 2nd gen trannys long ago. Besides, it has already built enough new replacement units back in 2002/03 when tranny warranty claims peaked. So all replacement trannys are rebuilt units.
