Angry Help! Check Engine Light and TCS light on.

Check engine light and TCS light keep coming on after intake manifold cleaning. This is the second time I have done the intake manifold. The first time worked great but not this time. Can it be the EGR port? Do I need to take off the top and bottom of the intake to clean the EGR port? Please help my tabs expired and I need to pass emissions.

do you mean you seafoamed the intake manifold vac port?
or you removed the intake manifold and partially cleaned egr?

need codes! parts stores will get them for you free,,cel will have codes

often after seafoam or similar if there was not enough heat generated in the after drive- the O2 sensor gets loaded up with crud and triggers a CEL
simply driving a few days will make it self clean and self clear the code

if your spark plugs are more than 100kmiles,,they are toast

if over 70kmiles on car- its time for remove intake manifold and clean egr system INSIDE the casting of the manifold,,not just the valve

Yeah, get the codes read......I'd question why the TCS light is on. The CEL may have nothing to do with the intake cleaning !

Theres a button that controls the tcs I believe try that first, See what results you get when pushing it on and off. run it autozone and keep the codes handy to do some research.

Pull the fuse and see if they go away. If not get them read and see what they are. The TCS light coming on with the CEL is Normal.

its possible to invert/install UP side DOWN- the top cover gasket during egr cleaning
looks correct on base but blocks critical egr port on top section

thats where I would start if prob began after that work
always suspect/recheck last work done,,something left off, cracked/worn end on vac hose etc
electrical connector swapped???

the warning lights are just to get your attention
codes are clues to help find a diagnosis

when you say the top and bottom of intake- do you mean the cover looking things as seen front and rear when looking at the engine?

those are the plenums- you can remove and clean in there too but not mandatory
For those who like to have the hood open at ziner meets--- those covers polish up really well -then leave the plastic engine cover off !

OK I got the codes read. The only code was PO325 knox sensor 1. So I bought one. Does anybody know where this senson is located?

The knock sensor is located directly in the middle of the front of the motor, looking at it from the front of the car.

To test the sensor, reset the PCM removing fuse #13(clock BU), then start car and run motor at 3k rpm in park. Once the fan comes on, leave the motor run at idle for awhile, then run up to 3-4k rpm again for a few minutes.

Does the "CEL" code come back on ? If so, check for loose connections or a short in the wiring. Try this on the old sensor before you replace it ! May get lucky.

I've checked my book and looked where you said. I cannot find the knock sensor. Is it under the intake manifold?

Hey Geedub, yeah man....it's underneath. They don't make anything easy. I've heard of the wiring cable to this sensor being ate by mice !

I've read that too. I just found mouse crap on the intake cover. I would never have believed it.. but it looks like its for real. One more time removing the intake and I hope this will solve my problem.
