HELP! check engine light code P0420

hi everyone. i recently had a custom 2 1/2 inch catback pipe installed and after 2 weeks later my check engine light started glowing. i took it to autozone to scan it and it came up with the code. P0420 catalyst efficiency low-bank 1.
i recently spent all my money on my lipkit and was hoping if some1 can help me find out the exact problem so that i dont have to spend money on something i dont need.
some1 please help me with this problem
the exhaust sounds like a beast and it would suk that i have to chop it up and throw it away.

some members have to install a spacer on the O2 sensor with the hi flow cats
gets too much of a reading and freaks it out
try a searchwith that in mind

you exhaust isnt the problem. Leave it. It could be a number of things. I would start with the cheapest. Start by cleaning the EGR ports reset teh light and see if that takes care of it. If not its either your cat or the O2 sensor (front on) I would start out by replacing that oneif cleaning the EGR cleaning doesn't work.

I would start out with the egr cleaning. Then if that doesnt work either have your cat tested or replace the front O2. Since the code that came up is a bank one i would say its the front O2

Hey fsttyms1, how much do one of those EGR pipe kits cost? I recently took my ar to Acura and the code P0420 popped up. Acura said it was the Catalytic Converter, my car was experiencing lag of power IMO. Now that I have a new Catalytic Converter my car has regained some of its power back. Should I do the EGR cleaning still?

With the age of these cars now im sure we will see more and more cats finally going, but lots of times that code comes from a 02 sensor or the EGR/EGR ports
