"NOT AN ASHTRAY"

ok I know there was a thread on here about this problem but I cant seem to find it. I out in too much change into the coin holder and I think that something fell in the back somewhere causing it to get stuck. it still moves up and down but I cant close it cuz it stops about 1/4" before. Do I have to take apart the whole center console or can I just pull the tray out and see whats blocking it?

You have to remove the whole center console.

I only have to remove the cover for the ECU connector and pull the coin out.

No, but spending those 5 minutes in a creative way to solve the problem from happening again is much easier.

Taken from a 3g TL using velcro/3m tape. Coins stay secure, and you don't have to hear the change jiggling around, or going behind the console/dash/floor.

Dont be scared. All you need is a philips screw driver and a few min of your time. Its not hard and can be done with the car running and doors closed all nice and warm in it

I don't keep pennies in the car, I have a water jug at home for them. I find that change is pretty dirty and ruins the red carpet in there. lol I'm a clean freak with the car. I like the "not an ashtray" as a candy jar.

i dont keep change in my pockets, so every thing goes in there. It has to be able to hold pennies for me

Then you have never really had coins stuck behind it and were lucky that it fell down that far. Most dont. Most stay on top and get into the tilt part of it.

That's a small fortune! I don't keep change in my pockets either. In fact, I can't remember the last time I bought something with cash

Wow, that's a lot of coins. I found a pile of coins under my center console but I never checked under the carpet.

So, judging by it's inability to hold coins, it's also "Not a Coin Holder"

I know i was shocked. And so was my buddy. There is nothing to keep them little suckers from going down and under there. The vent actually traps most of them behind it

lol that's crazy man, you can take out your seats every couple of years and have enough to fill up your tank, go to a movie, and eat dinner.
