Exclamation Help! Can't jump start my 02 TL

Hi friends, probably just the battery, but I love in NY and my battery died the other day, jumped it no problem. Did last night, COULD NOT jump after about 6 tries! The starter clicks rapidly, but it just doesn't get enough juice for the initial turnover. The battery is from the previouss owner. Had some corrosion on one terminal. Do you think is the starter, or just a dead battery? I belong to AAA I was gonna call them, I think they will replace the battery on the spot, but I just don't want to get hosed! Any thoughts or tips will be greatly appreciated! !!

Call AAA and have them check the battery. If the charge is fine on it.. then it's probably your starter.

Hey Carmis, with the recent sub-zero Artic blast.....chances are good that your car's battery is dead. Just take out your old battery, have it tested and if bad..... trade it for a new one at your local auto parts store.... and hopefully all will be well. Cheapest and quickest way to know without waiting for AAA. Just "DIY", it's easy !!!

Clean up the battery's terminals, check the electrical connections to the starter and inspect the main ground wire for wear at the tranny.

I agree with 3.2TLc, definitely clean up the terminals and check all connection points and grounds. If you have a multimeter, you can DIY, or you could take it to an auto store and they could do it.

It hit the negative teens in Cincy and the same thing happened to my sister's battery; probably just needs replacing.

Also there's bad jump cables and the good ones, Must give it 5 minutes to charge up before turning the key to start it. Your battery needs to be replaced either way since it wont survive another cold night.
Also check what was mentioned above.

Thanks guys. All good advice, and as I suspected, after charging/jumping, pretty much everything except inspect the ground lead by the tranny, it seems it was the battery. Was away at work all day, so the wife had to wait (4+ hours! ) for triple A, the AAA guy had a meter and verified it was dead! Could have towed it to autozone. $120 for a 5 year, but I saved the wide the hassle and spent $140 on a 6 year job from AAA. THANKS AGAIN! !
