Did you finally fix the misfire?
I have spent a day searching the web for articles about this problem as i am trying to fix my sons car. Sounds like you tried almost everything. Did you ever try a valve adjustment?

Mechanic told me the next step might be replacing the EGR.

Have you figured out what's causing it yet? I'm afraid I'll end up dumping lots of money into things that aren't going to fix the problem. Can't afford it since I have no knowledge to fix it myself and have to take it to a shop for everything.
Did you ever try testing your coils?
Did you ever get it fixed?

welcome to the forum

lets just work your problem
what year and mileage?, run 91 octane gas?
What codes are you getting?--parts stores will pull those for you free
what engine roughness, stalling or other probs are you trying to fix?

coil is a common failure, plugs need to be the right ones,,idle control gets clogged,,

2001 Acura cl 3.2
113000 miles
regular gas

The first mechanic thought it was the computer so he took it out and replaced it with another one. The problem remained so he put the original back in. Recommended we go to an Acura dealer for a diagnosis. Here are their results.

CODE PO 300-306 ALL CYLINDERS MISFIRING. DIAGNO SED VEH AND SWAPPED COILS WITH KNOWN GOOD COILS AND MISFIRE WENT AWAY EXCEPT WHEN VEH STARTED COLD. RECOMMEND REPLACE ALL COILS AND PERFORM VALVE ADJUSTMENT.

CODE 01-1 POEN CIRCUIT IN DRIVER AIR BAG, WOULD NEED NEW HARNESS TO START.

2 issues 1) engine 2) airbag

The airbag light has always been an on off issue since he bought it used.

The dealer said it is a wiring problem to the airbag not the bag itself.

I don't know if it is related but the first mechanic tried to swap the air filter with a Honda and it didn't fit so he put the original back on. The original that came with the used car is not the one that would have came with it new. The other owner put on a cold air intake for better performance. The mechanic was trying to put on the Honda filter so that the car would pass smog. A week later the car started having engine problems.

He has had the car for about a year.

Thanks

so it needs a coil? as said thats common--acura likes to replace all for 600..to be sure the problem is fixed!!

or you can buy the 1 needed for 50 at parts stores- your choice

and stop running 87 !!
use only 91 or higher (93 if thats what they sell in your area)
that causes many many problems

first thing I would do is seafoam the crud off the valves and pistons from 87 octane and 1 can in half tank gas to get the injectors and rails clean

ck spark plug condition- low grade gas will show on them
use only ngk iridium. not some 2 buck chuck specials~

valve adjust based on noise? or past the 105 mark for it due?

was the timing belt water pump job done at 105 or between then and now?

Thanks for your help. I really want to fix this today.

I want to start by checking for the bad coil. Do i leave the car running when i check and how do i avoid getting shocked?

most buy 1 coil and use the trouble codes as a guide for which is bad

One person the other day said you can test coil with a multimeter instead of playing swap the hole, ck this and other misfire thread

seafoam just add to gas tank- 1 can per 8 gallons- thats a tick under half

valve adjust, any good honda tech can do for you

when you install a new coil, you MUST reset the ecu by pulling the CLOCK fuse on passenger end of dash for 1 minute
that forces a reboot and self test
Drive the car and see if it runs better!!

any suggestions? i seafoamed it through the vacuum line. only put in 91 octane. spark plugs? coil? but that would misfire all the time, right?
I had similar problem, turned out to be a loose conection on an injector, make sure everythings tight! Also check ground wires on engine, chassis, and battery.

I am experiencing this exact problem ramdom misfire p300 p301 p305.
I did the coil swap and no luck there.
took the car in to my indy, and he says valve job $550, two O2 sensors $250 and some other business totaling $1150
Now, I have not pulled trigger on the fix yet.
I think a second opinion is in order.

unless you broke the timing belt- there is no logical reason for it to need a valve job
at 200 these engines are like new inside
2 o2 sensors!!! well lets replace 6 coils too,,just to be sure we fixed it= because we dont know how to work on acuras~

have you done the timing belt?- it was due at 105, and spark plugs are how old?
ngk iridium or ngk platinum?-about 8 bucks each,, not the 2 buck specials

you tried the ecu reset by pulling clock fuse to reset system.. and the car does what?
have to reset after each coil move test,, so it cks itself

A parts store (except california) will read the codes for you for free
