Post Gear shifting high rev

2003 TL, the car shifts at higher rpm than usual for the 2nd and 3rd. Check engine light went on for a day, now went off. TCS light also went briefly on than went off. Any ideas highly appreciated, before I surrender myself to the mercy of AAMCO or dealership!

whats the miles on car?
Do you change the atf? ever?

is it slipping on accelleration,,how does it shift higher?--does it rev then catch hard in gear?
does lifting off the gas make it shift `normal`
How does the fluid look and smell? dark and burnt sugar would be bad

No on the double a,,too many bad stories about them for the most part,,some places are good but the majority dont fix our trans very well
They can look at it for you and pull the codes, thats a start, but their test drive may cripple it sooner than you are prepared for
acura will charge $100 to tell you the same code info!
PARTS STORES will get the codes out for free!!!!
report back here with those,,the lights came on = there are codes stored

are you part of the covered Vins for the trans extended warranty?
any relationship with the dealer- any work done there or bought cars from them?
any reason at all for acura to show you some `goodwill`?
and comp or seriously reduce price, match local price of 2000-2500 for a rebuilt unit

hint: acura gets over 4 grand retail!!

Get it scan for codes, even though the check engine light went out, but the codes maybe still there, could be just bad pressure switches.

The car is 130,000 miles. Yes I will take it to check the codes, hope is not the transmission. When I bought it four+ years ago I called Acura America, with the VIN and they confirmed the transmission was serviced, under the recall they had on this model.
Thanks everybody for the input!

I have changed the ATF early this summer. The transmission does not slip, it just switches at 3500-4000 rpm from 2nd to 3rd. Then when is in the 4th and I take the foot from the gas pedal, I get the feeling is downshifting. In manual mode works fine. Anyways I will have the codes checked. Many thanks.

what atf did you use? It might be low on fluid if you only poured in 3 qts at the change
most will drain up to 3.4 qts

do the 15 minute freeway drive and ck fluid level with it warm
between the dots is acceptable, upper dot is max/Full level

What happens with lighter throttle- so it would normally shift at 2500
SS mode causes higher line pressure, Im thinking maybe dirty selenoids?

Serviced on recall means they installed the oil jet kit
Look at your trans- to know if its been replaced ck the bolts attaching things to trans and the trans main bolt heads- for blue paint,,thats an acura warranty unit

Did you have to remove that thing from the filler hole-the oil jet kit, meaning you have an original trans
or was there a large bolt that was marked ATF, remove and add atf thru there is normal

Piggy Do you know how many ounces of fluid between the dots,,from low to high = 1 pint?

ck the Regions link at top of pages, ATL has a large ziner community who regularly meet and talk cars,,look for member phee as a local guru

There you can find someone to test drive each others car, another ziner can see how your trans feels..someone brings a code reader...
