you dont have 30 min to waste some weekend and spend 5-10 dollars on material as opposed to 100+ per side?

Look under molding.

Each piece will run you about $60 a piece. $240 total. I say go the paint route. Worst case is you're out a a couple bucks on paint and sandpaper.

Or, if you are gonna spend the money anyways, get some carbon fiber vinyl and wrap them as a few members have done recently. It looks very classy and sporty.
I mean, hey...If you're gonna spend money and to get new ones, you might as well spend the money on some cf and make em' look incredible...

But as others have said, take a little bit of time and get em done, its not hard at all nor is it very time consuming...

if you dont want to take them off you can always just cover around and spray while on the car. Plus you are going to have to spend the time to take them off anyways unless your having a shop do them.

After 10 years mine have finally started to go bad. Something over the winter triggered them. They were like new in the fall. When i paint the hood and trunk in a few days they are getting a fresh coat of paint as well

Haha funny. Mine too. I did start parking outside instead of the covered parking garage at work so I'm sure the sun had a lot to do with it.

Im planning on painting my b-pillars next week. They look about 10 times worse the OP's. If anyone could recommend the type of paint i should use as well as what levels of sandpaper (im guessing start at 800-1000 and move on to 1500).

Another thing is the black glossy film around the door trim, under the chrome. I guess the previous owner tried to buff it but it wrinkled and it looks like balls. So is there a proper way of approaching this? Btw, ive seen that c/f stuff and it does not look classy to me at all. Looking for black film.

Thanks!

Yea I have the exact same problem, probably even worst as well.

So I went into Crappy Tire today wanting to buy some basic acrylic enamel/lacquer black and clear coat and do the cover window/roof/door and spray over it option.

On the advice of another customer in the store he said not to do that if you're not experienced at painting as the end look might not end up as wish.

So he suggested something called Black Chrome, which CT didnt have but thye did Mothers Back-to-Black, its like a rub, and works like a tire shine for your bpillars and trim. It was a cheaper alternative then the paint and less risk.

I applied alot on and now waiting for it to dry, I'd say its about 80% effective. i can still see some fade lines though.

Arrow B-Pillar's Bad

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here so bear with me. I have a 2002 TL-S and my B-Pillars are lousy, too. I talked with the Parts Department and they told me the UV has a definite effect on these. I already had them replaced once so I'm not sure I want to do it again since it doesn't take long for the same thing to happen. What junk. They told me each pillar would cost $97.00 each. So, to get the parts could cost $388 and labor $96.00. Isn't that disgusting?

Has anyone heard of the Crome plated pillars you can just stick on over the existing ones? There is a company called Showtrix that has them and I've seen them elsewhere online, too. Just curious if anyone else has ever used these covers.

Also, can someone tell me how to take off the pillars? I think I talked the dealership into giving me the parts at wholesale, so all I need to do is take the old ones off and put on the new ones. Still going to be pretty expensive. I may go the paint route if I could see a picture of how that looks.

With 2 transmissions replaced already and problems with the SRS light and air bag problems and recalls, what else could go wrong? I still love my TL, but Honda Motor Company should step up to the plate when it comes to the problems they never fixed even though they led you to believe they did.

Thanks all.

800-1500 is way more than you need. 220-400 is all you need.

As for the other stuff, about the only recourse for that is to peal it all off and reapply a vinyl tape or have it painted.
