Engine shaking violently

I have a '99 with 112kmi and the shaking occurs and is phisically noticeable at idle-to-1000rpm ONLY when the car is in gear (Drive) When i take the car out of gear and into neutral/park everything is alright, no shaking, no noises.

I checked the tranny fluid and its still clear red, i suspect a problem with the transmission from the simptoms but would like to get some thoughts from the forum maybe there's something i missed in the year or so of a-zine absense.

car has had all of its maintenance (we're original owners ). replaced tranny and all engine/tranny mounts at 93k under warranty (i hope i didnt get a shitty transmission)

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,

-etxx

You might have clogged EGR ports, clogged IAC, clogged EGR valve. Not necessarily all three but you never know. Any CEL?

no CEL, car runs and idles fine....smooth and at 670rpm when not in drive.

I've never cleaned the EGR so i guess i'll start there this weekend. i thought it was tranny related since it feels like the car is power breaking as in something having to do with the torque converter....maybe i'm waaaay off.

thanks for tip.

drop by the dealer and ask the service manager to take a quick ride with you
Since they replaced it once- you get ~goodwill~ coverage now

Well, i cleaned my EGR, checked ICV (IAC) and the problem persisted so its not there....atleast the car runs better but still shakes.

any of you can confirm the "good will" from the dealers?

If you can go to the same dealer it will help- speak only in person and direct with the SERVICE MANAGER
If there is any issue about your miles and the 109 limit, mention the court case that said odometer reads 5% fast (some models) and that would mean 109 ACTUAL miles would be 114.5 indicated miles. '
If they try to say the raise from 100 to 109 was for the odometer error, ask them to show their math of 100 + 5% = 109 must be that New math they teach the kids now!
A dealer actually said that to a member here- and member was able to get the coverage past ~limit!

GOODWILL is due to you since you had a trans replaced not all that long ago.
It should be no big deal as long as you are friendly and nice- you are already a known car to the shop etc. If it were the first failure- it would be a different story.

My replacement went in a little over a year and 12k miles ago, very soon its getting replaced again, and this time they better give me a nicer loaner car!!

If the transmission times the inevitable just right, maybe they'll loan you an 09 TL!

I have been able to get ~shake~ now in the 2nd gear change- that up from a shudder, so its looking good for it soon.
Sure it figures- get my ride dialed in and clean, and she goes to the shop for a week.

Tonight- while helping friend buy a truck- the seller says- I will trade my Lexus right there, for your 'honda'- straight across== right now
I laughed, and he took 100 off the price of the truck.
