Do I really need a new bumper to replace a ballast?

I got in a minor fender bender awhile ago and it caused my bumper to bend in a little. It really has not affected any of my cars performance, but it did damage my ballast causing my headlight to disable.

I brought it into the shop and they said they would have to replace bumper in order to fix the ballast. They said that if I do not fix the bumper, if it ever rains it will damage the ballast. Is this true? If it's not I'm goign to just ask them to replace the ballast and try mounting it somewhere else where it will fit.

Any suggestions/tips advice? Cash is hard to come by and all I want is my passenger headlight to work.

ask another shop

on most Tl's the ballast is under the light housing-- so when moisture gets inside the lens,, it will drip down onto the ballast and fry it

Sounds fishy to me- insurance payout involved?
Just extend the wiring & move it someplace else if you have to.

I would not suggest you follow that advice!!!
cutting into high volt wires to extend them--never a good idea
Find the real problem and fix it
maybe you didnt understand what they were saying,,

alternative to replacing a bad ballast is aftermarket waterproof mini sized units- they work great and eliminate one prob from the TL

As long as it's done properly (soldered, insulated, match wire gauge, etc.) there's no reason it won't work fine. And I agree, it would be better to just figure out what they're talking about so you don't have to though.
