Dead Battery = SRS light and Check Engine P1768??

Hi,

I have a 2000 TL with about 65K miles on it. For the last 6 months or so I've only been driving it to and from the train station each day, about 4 miles each way.

Earlier this week it would not start. Battery was very weak, lights dim, etc. I was able to jump it but after I got it started lights were still dim, and the Check Engine and SRS light came on.

I took it to a local trusted shop and they replaced the battery and checked out all systems. They said the Check Engine light was for code P1768. He didn't think anything was really wrong, so he reset the light so it's now off. The SRS light he couldn't do anything about.

It would seem that these lights must be related to the battery dying on me, as they only appeared after I jump started the car. I'm not sure if it's worth bringing to a dealer right away.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Pete
