Crankshaft pulley or what? Please help me
Hey all, i have a 99 tl. with 190k miles, just had transmission rebuilt at 175k. Left the house last night and it sounded like i hit something in the road, and all the lights dimed and most all the lights on instrument cluster came on. Got home before pulling in garage and it cutting off. She always gets me home, haha.. So this morning i get up to buy a new belt(had seen a piece of it on my road, where car made noise). Look under the hood to find the bottom pulley had sheard off of the main piece. Not exactly sure what it is called. I need some help. My neighbor said it was the harmonic balancer, but not able to find much info about it online. Help me please. I have a picture of the piece that came off. It came off and spun/melted into the plastic behind the wheel well.

Justin
Thanks, so much for any help.

when was the timing belt and water pump replaced?
you can get a lightweight crank pulley online for cheap- beware of makers,,bomz is well respected
you are really lucky if that got you home with no damage to other parts!
How was the water temp? normal?
and the upper tensioner you can see- is it moving or stuck and caused other prob

i would say that a fairly common thing to happen on a domestic, but on a honda though
, unless of course the t/belt had not been replaced too long ago, and it had been stuck on the crankshaft, and they had pried on the pulley which started the coming apart
as far as replacement, if you don't go lightweight pulley, then i would say just get a stock replacement, that is like the first honda one i have seen do that, so not common, and anyways iirc a stock replacement is only like $50 or something from the dealer

Was looking through some paper work my timing belt and water pump was done at 102k. Good thing i got home, from what i could see everything else was working fine, temp was ok. but my gauges did go crazy right before i turn into my driveway. Bet it happen cuiz i was talking about trading it in. HAHA.
thanks firepr2002, i will defientely let u know, i have to check with the dealership on monday to see if my warranty will cover my repair. Hope so then i get a loaner car to drive for a week or so. Last time it was the new TSX with the V6.
Warranty covering the powertrain until 222k miles. bought it at 122k miles. Covered most of my transmission repair couple months ago. It paid 2200 of 3600 for rebuilt transmission and everything that goes along with it. hopefully it is going to cover this repair.
Yea i know it coming up that time again. Lookin to get another car before the warranty goes out. Been looking at newer TLs and some other non acuras
. I am so torn, i love my tl. But messed up and test drove a 540i sport edition the other day.

BMW=Buy more warranty lol. I like 540 6sp though.
Yea that what i worry about. Think i better off getting newer tl. Called dealership today about my car, and my service advisor is out of town til next week. ugh no new loaner car for me until next week.
so a service MANAGER should handle all the missing writers jobs
If your car is in the shop- someone can talk to you about it
As for loaner cars- unless they hooked you up before,,most states are age 25 minimum for loaner cars- they are considered rental cars for insurance purposes
ck your state laws, some are 21,, some...
