Comptech transmission cooler

I was wondering if I should get the Comptech transmission cooler for 2G TLs. $150 is a small amount compared to thousands of $$$ for a tranny replacement. I'm not even sure if my TL is covered by the extended warranty, as I've checked the VIN and I believe it is one of the "later model" TLs.

The '04 models having tranny problems also doesn't imbue much confidence.

I can already feel the wrinkles forming on my forehead Does anyone have this or a similar product installed?

This question has been asked and answered a bazillion times. A tranny cooler will not help prevent tranny problems.

well this isn't exactly true. it helps extend the life of the fluid. but will it save the tranny? obviously not, and we all know that.

I Go To Costco - don't buy a comptech brand tranny cooler when the SAME cooler can be had at autozone for up to $100 cheaper. just looking out for you.

i have a tranny cooler installed but only because i wanted it based on my driving style and my desire to keep my tranny fluid as fresh as possible throughout my change intervals. i'm probably going to take it off seeing as the only benefit i see from it is if you've been WOT for a while or up in high speeds for extended periods of time the car seems to maintain smoother shifting when you first come back down, as opposed to waiting the time for the tranny to cool off. and this is purely related to fluid viscosity and thermal breakdown.

a lot of these remanufactured transmissions online STRONGLY recommend a larger aftermarket transmission cooler. i've seen one that even includes it with the purchase of a tranny.

was it worth it in your opinion? also, did you add it to your existing radiator, or replace it completely?

thanks, and sorry for the 12 year old thread revival....
