Child Door lock broken

I have an 05 tl that I just bought and the rear driver side door won't open from the inside but the child lock switch is stuck in the up position. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it? Thanks for any help

But if ya can open it from the outside, ya may be able to force the lock switch's over-ride down.
Do ya need to have the "child door lock over-ride feature" ? If not, just disable it.

Sorry about the wrong section I'm new to the site. And I've tried everything I can think of short of taking the door panel off, including brute strength, to get the switch to budge and nothing. What is the child door lock over-ride feature?

Rear door's child lock switch....

After rereading your post, I realized that the switch is up as it normally should be, but won't allow the door to open when inside. Hmmm...Somebody must have forced the switch up and now it's apparently stuck.

But, whatever is inside the child lock switch mechanism thinks it's in the "down" mode for the switch to be still on. Probably have no choice but to open up the panel and take a closer look at what's binding within the door.

Thanks I was hoping I could avoid that but it seems that is the only real way to figure out why this is happening. I'll probably do that in the next few days and give an update on what it was
