check engine and tcs light, believe its the egr again
well after idling for like 30-40 min, i pull out and the lights both came on, cel then few secs tcs came on. i believe its the egr since it still runs smooth but same time yea the lights r on. my question is, if i pop off the IM and clean it all up, will the cel and tcs light still be on? do i gotta go to a dealership to reset the lights or what.
Well you can reset the lights by removing the battery for 5 minutes, just make sure you have the radio and navi (if applicable) codes ready.
BTW first take it to autozone and have it scanned. There are many, many reasons a CEL could come on so it's not wise to assume.

meh i was gonna do that too, we dont got autozones/pep boys like u guys, we got crappy tire n shit but im just gonna pop out the IM and give it a quick cleanin, took me like 40 min last time i did it. and was like last summer...
If your going to keep the car a while just get the new EGR with pipe kit and do it all at the same time and never have to worry about it again.
I had mine done under warranty for free, but I don't know if it's different in Canada. Here if you have 80,000 and under they will do a cleaning and install new EGR with pipe kit.

well went to a local store to scann it 86 bucks, so i said fuck it and tried to clean the egr and Im. the CEL is gone, hopefully i cured it. now im gonna go but some carb cleaner and spray the engine while running and off, pretty nasty for only less than a year i cleaned it, last aug.
back done it all, also lubed the pullys and belts. the egr wasnt as clogged as the first time i cleaned it, but still lots of black stuff came out. scrubed it wit a toothbrush and got most of it out....worst spots r near the TB inlet running left/right of the IM, u can really see all the black stuff.
got it scanned, 103 cdn in total
but they reset the ecu showing it was an o2 sensor, p0113 or some shit, but yea well see how long this last, cuz i basically reseted it when i was doin the IM cleanin and half day later came back on but yea, well see...

That's messed up, you guys don't have AutoZone up there or any other auto parts chains that will scan for free?
well i bougth an after market 02 sensor, for 80 bucks, cdn, the bosch type. and the egr is i duno what abbreviated lol, but its a hole in the IM(intake manifold) u'll see if when u take off the IM and its near the TB head..thanks for bringing up the old post and not making another new one rofl.

So I'm having the exact same problem as you (check engine light came on as well as the traction control light). I went to Autozone and they said that the 02 sensor that comes before the catalytic converter has gone bad, and costs $90. When I asked about the TCS light, they said they couldn't do anything about that. Do you think that when I fix the O2 sensor, the TCS light will just go away, or is that another problem of its own? Thanks in advance.
P.S. How long/ how hard is it put the new O2 sensor in?

If your going to replace your o2 sensors, you need to repace them all because you just cant look at them and distiguish which on is bad. They are not hard at all to replace, just a pain in the a$$ to get to the cannon plug. I would say about a 1 hour job. Thats how long it took me to do them.
what do u mean them all? theres only 2, and when u run the odb2 scanner, it says what one, be4 or after cat. mine was before right on the downpipe.
can be done quick, like 15 min, depending on how small ur hands are, and how siezed up the o2 sensor is.
as for the tcs light, it will go away when its fixed, it just get activated for some reason i duno.

got my P0401 error checked out at a dealership yesterday and they covered the entire thing (as they should have). I thought they were gonna pull some other bullsh!t about it not being the EGR valve but surprisingly they didn't.
For the Chicago Acura owners, the dealership I went to was Bob Rohrman's Arlington Acura dealership, 1275 E. Dundee Rd in Palatine.
