check engine light for tranny
So my car didnt crank the other day, even though Its a 1 year old battery, its hasnt been driven much in the past month. I jumped it, thats when the light came on, mechanic said something to do with tranny and if it comes on again bring it to a transmission shop. Ive only driven it 2 miles since them, so havent noticed it driving different. Is this a sign my tranny is finally going out, or just a part is messed up? thanks!
a month of no driving will result in very low battery voltage-- It can give all sorts of FALSE codes due to low voltage giving bad signals to the ecu
recharge battery on a machine, then by driving to make it fully charged
or by driving without headlights or fan --let the alternator send all its power to the battery for recharging
Needs 45 minutes of freeway driving to bring to full charge and dry out the moisture from being parked
That 2 mile drive put more hurt on the battery --starter takes a lot of amps!
and not enough time above 1500 rpm to run the car and recharge the battery.
Do be sure the connections at battery are free of any crud growing out of them
Drive as described and retest system
