Check Engine Light & Hesitation

I just purchased a used 2002 TL-S and I have had several issues including the transmission recall. Currently I am experiencing hesitation during acceleration and I have the following check engine codes:
P0301
P0302
P0303
P0305
P0306
P1399
I am confused as to what I should do. I have already spent a considerable amount of money replacing the EGR sensor and ECM and am still having performance issues with the vehicle. Can anyone please give me some advice?

01,02,03,05,06 and cylinder misfires.. the 1399 is a random misfire.. check your plugs and coilpacks

Thanks! What should I look for on the plugs (carbon build up?), and the packs (how do I check them)? I have a hard time believing that they all went bad at the same time. How should I check them, what should I look for? Personally, I think that the cause of the problem has to do with something else. What I mean to say is what would cause a malfunction in all but one of my cilenders? I have read about people with the same problems spending money on plugs, cilenders, and O2 sensors with no luck. I just wonder what it is. I have not made any mods yet so what could it be? Basically, my car performed fine for 3 months and then I started it one morning with all the sensors on. The symptoms where very apparent, it shook violently, hesitited, and shifted very tempermentally. So... I replaced the EGR sensor...and then the ECM...and then the transmission. What am I left with...a wierd shifting transmission and occasional hesitation when I accelerate. = all the performance I once had...gone. Sorry for the long reply. PLEASE HELP, ANYONE WITH EXPERIENCE OR KNOWLEGE. PLEASE!!!!

luckily i have experience with coil packs.. i don't know much about spark plugs. but i know only 1 bad coilpack can cause multiple misifires. does it feel like the engine is shaking during idle?

It feels like the engine is running a little rough, I can feel a slight shake. Also, there is a slight hesitation at times (mostly unpredictable) during acceleration. How can I check if a coil pack is bad? Also do you think I should go to the "stealer" to check it out or should I just replace the parts myself and see what happens? I have paid for this problem before, do you think there is any chance the stealer will cover it or at least check it for free? Please advise.

With that many misfire codes i would check into a 02 sensor as a possible issue

Just buy one and try them one by one and you'll get to the right one. I did it today and it worked.

Codes are not diagnosis of problems

They must be taken as a series of clues leading to the real problem

My car said it had engine over-rev- but in reality it had a slipping trans!

Everyone should read the Gen2 thread titled Seafoamed the Ol TL
and you will run out- do it, and expereice better running engine.

Assasin

When you say trans recall, do you mean you took it in for the free oil jet kit install
or you had the trans replaced under factory extended warranty?

Who diagnosed and replaced the other parts

Pause!
Since you just got the car clear the codes to start of fresh and don't replace any parts until you have a full diagnosis of whats going.
More than likely those misfire codes are being set because of clogged egr passages or a bad coil. Try the power balance test provided above.

Great video, thanks guys.
Before I go out and try this, I did get a random misfire diagnostic ar a shop. P0300,0301,po302,p0304 and po305. In the video he simulated a faulty injector. My question is how do you determine if indeed it is a bad coil pack or a faulty injector. @$76 a coil pack I want to make sure, thanks all.

Our cars are notorious for throwing multiple misfire codes for just one coil pack. If unplugging them one at a time doesnt show the faulty one, buy one new one, pic a cyl to put it on, install it reset the ecu and take it for a drive. Does the check engine light come back on? If yes repeat the process with the next cyl (taking the new one off and replacing it with the one you took off) and repeat this process. Usually you will find its just one cyl causing the issue.
