Check engine light after pumping gas

HI
I'm new to this forum.
I just purchased a 2002 TL. I let it sit for a week while selling my prev car. So after the week I drove it later one night to get gas and pumped the premium gas with the Acura engine running. (I never do this but I wanted to charge the battery as it's old). I didn't drive it for another week and have now been driving it for 4 days. When I started driving it 4 days ago the check engine light was on. It wasn't before. I read the manual and noted this occurs if the gas cap isn't twisted at least 3 times. I figured I didn't do this and twisted it a few times but it remains on. The manual says it can take 3 trips to turn off but I've driven the car about 8 separate times the last 4 days for a total of maybe 25 miles. So my quesition is: how long does it take for the light to go out if one pumps gas with the car running and doesn't tightern the gas cap and then lets it sit for a week, i.e. should I take it to the dealer now or wait a little longer to see if it goes away?

Thanks
Mike

Reset the ECU and see if it comes back on. If it does come back on, get the code read and see what it is.

And Welcome the Acurazine!

Code is 1457 and the EVAP Bypass Solenoid is bad. I wonder if it could cause any damage to run it like this for a few weeks

It shouldn't cause any more damage. Members here have ran for years with a bad EVAP canister.

Do you notice a constant clicking noise under the driver side rear door?

Thanks all for the help. There's no clicking. The solenoid was hooked directly to power and it isn't working. I understand a bad EVAP Bypass solenoid is a common problem. I just hope its the only problem. I believe I can hold off awhile given I have higher priorities right now till I can replace it.
