Check Engine Light

hi,
Thank you in advance for looking. I have a 2000 TL with 116,000 miles. Recently the Check engine light came on along with TCS light. After a few days the TCS light went out and remained out. AutoZone advised it was code P0113 and to change the Mass Air Temp Sensor. I replaced the part and disconnected the battery to reset the light. A few days later the light came back on. I took it to AutoZone again. A different clerk ran the diagnostics and said P0113 is not the Mass Air Temp Senor and this is the generic code the system couldn't diagnosed and I will have to take it to Acura. He gave me the print out. I looked over the 2 feet of print out. The code for 'Honda' reads P0113 - IAT sensor circuit high voltage - probably cause - open or short circuit condition 2. poor electrical connection. 3. Faulty IAT sensor.
Can anyone please help me diagnosed this issue? I hate to bring it to a dealer for $90 diagnostics. Thank you.

Hi ottsompol :

The second code description is correct. This is a sensor that measures the intake air temperature. Yours is reading abnormally high for some reason, probably a faulty sensor. I would try and replace it then see what happens.

Like myself, I to have code issues and without a code reader, it's really like working in the dark. For $150 you can get a middle of the road unit that will do quite nicely for a DIY'er. I suggest this is a really good investment given the cost the stealership wants every time the stupid light comes on.

Good luck !

first:
go back to parts store and get the electrical/charging system tested
thats free
If battery voltage is not correct, it will give false codes and think sensors are bad

was the timing belt and water pump done at 105 or recently- a wire could be loose from that
several options- need more free testing to diagnose

Thank you for the responses.

Timing belt and water pump was changed at 100k. Battery is less than 1 year old.

AutoZone told me the part i bought Air Charge Temperature Sensor is the same part as Intake Air Temperature Sensor.

I'll get the electrical system tested. Any other ideas?

It runs ok. Acceleration seems to be a little sluggish and sometime the idle falls to almost a stall and then it picks backup again.

P0113 - Intake Air temperature sensor 1 circuit high input code. = check your wiring after you test the sensor to ensure it is good. my guess is you got an open somewhere

ck the TB air plate for crud buildup and possibly the IACV dirty

you replaced the air temp sensor?
if so, reset the ECU by pulling CLOCK fuse on passenger end of dash for a minute

hi everyone, the car seems to be running well. I had to get smog check to renew my tags. I disconnected the battery to reset the 'check engine' light. The smog place will fail the car if check engine light is on. The car passed emission and the check engine light hasn't come back on. I have a question just out of curiosity, if an electronic part failed and lit the check engine light. The part is replaced but the check engine light is still on, does the car recognizes the part has been replaced and adjusts the onboard computer or the check engine has to be reset? Thank you

After reading all of the posts, I don't know if any of these would apply to my problem. I have a 1998 Acura TL and the check engine light has come on. Any suggestions as to where to start?

You need to reset the ECU to clear the code for it to go away immediately
