CEL problem

CEL problem

ok from a dead stop i hit the gas to WOT and at around 4k+ rpms the car started to shudder a lil bit almost like a misfire.. cel started blinking.. i smelt a lil burning but as soon as i stopped the cel went away... is there anyway i can find out what that code was? if i plug in the obd will the code be pending ? what could this be? thanks for help

That's definitely a misfire. To my knowledge, the OBDII stores codes even when the light is not on.

Yes, I do believe you are correct. And yeah, thats definately a misfire. I had that problem in my infiniti, and it turned out to be a bad coil.

so what do u think it could be? the car drives fine, only in first gear at WOT it misfires.. do you think i have a bad plug? i dont think it could be a coil because it would be misfiring at idle also...

It's probably a bad coilpack. It doesn't misfire at idle because there's no load.

a little update.. another coil actually went out, i replaced it today and its still happening...

How do you know it was the right coil pack you replaced? Have you replaced your plugs at all?

i definately know i changed the right coil becuase my car dosent shake like crazy anymore.. i changed my plugs about 10k miles ago

another update... it misfired again today and made kind of a pop noise.. kinda like a a backfire noise just much lower.. it also misfired when i turned on the car.. i got my codes pulled and i got an p0300 301 302 303 305 & 306 .. i have a feeling my spark plugs are bad

I would start out by replacing them (cheapest route) what kind of plugs do you have in?

Other wise it may very well be a O2 sensor causing it

if my o2 sensor was bad woulnt it have its own independant code on the OBD?

I'm going to pull the Check Engine Light codes on my sister's 2002 3.2TL but can't find the Actron's OBDII plugin port for that model. The ports on my Mercedes Benz E-class and SLK are at the driver side, under the steering wheel column.
