cd player problems
i have a 99 tl with navi, and recently i bought a indash 6cd changer out of a 02 tl, and had it installed, it worked perfectly fine for the past 6 months until recently when i put a cd in and it jamed, it has 3 cds in it and is only showing that is has 2. it will not play any of the cds, or eject them. i went by a repair shop here in town who specilizzes in reparing factory radios, and they informed me that it would run anywhere from 200 to 400 to fix it. then told me that they break often. i am in a dilema, because if they break often i dont want to put that jmuch oney into it just for this to happen again next year. some of my options are i could purchase another one off of ebay, which would run cheaper than reapairing the one that is currently in the car. i still have the orginal cd player buyt it does not play burnt cds the majority of the time. n i was giving the option of putting it back in with a new cd changer in the trunk, but the guy at the audio sotre said if i dont that or put in a aftermarket headunit it would make the navi not work. i was wondering if someopne else has had this problem, and what they did to fix it.
go to where u bought it. or try somewhere else cause $200-$400 to fix is retarded for a radio that cost $200-$300. i think theres a pin hole that u accually stick a pin in to remove jammed CDs, i could be wrong.
Paul Mooney, on his excellent navhelp site, wrote the following:
The 2002/2003 cd players are a bit flaky. The mechanism can get jammed when the item gets shipped to you, or even perhaps as a result of the accident that made it available. Also if you shove a bunch of CD-R's in it the mechanism can jam since CD-R blanks are a bit thicker and I would never insert ones with stick on labels. The fix is easy, there is a cover on the top of the player and you reach in and put the mechanism back on track. When you get one of these test it before you put the whole dash together. Also the one jam I had with too many CR-R's I got lucky and it was fixed by whacking the dash and all CD's would eject. But of course if that doesn't fix it you'd need 30 minutes to take apart the console, fix it and then 30 minutes to put it together again.

Another option is to go right to something like an iPod.
