Car idling hard...trouble starting

I just got home from a night on the town and I noticed when I was at the light my car starting idling really hard, almost cutting off at the light. I drove home the last 3 miles and the engine was making a very loud sound. I got home and tried to turn the car back on and it acted like it didnt want to start. When it did finally start it was still running funny, and the fan was cutting on. Is it just overheating, or something more?

Was it overheating- guage more than halfway on the temp?
Check the engine oil level and condition

The cooling fan (driver side fan) runs at odd times- and should not run more than a few minutes after engine shut down

Could be an idle control valve- they get dirty

didnt seem to be overheating according to the gauge. it does run for a few minutes after I turn the car off, most of the time when its very warm out.

It should not be low- mine barely uses a drop between changes- how is the smell and color of the oil- has it been cooked?

The next obvious thing is- have you replaced the battery yet
Gen 2s are all on the age limit of the OE battery
Take it out and a parts store will charge it up and test for you- free
Also have the alternator tested after the battery is charged
Simple test done for free at parts store

I replaced the battery last November from the original. The smell seems strange, color is lighter than normal. I cant get any test done because the car wont start.

Give it a chance- nice weather on a sunday finds many ziners out enjoying their ride or family obligations
By night many will return to the nest and answers will appear

Didnt look at the vid- can you call a friend for ride to parts store so they can charge the battery up for you and test it?

It may be the fuel pump
Getting spark, just not enough fuel to the motor??

Mine actually did this about 5 minutes ago as I was leaving Zaxby's. Went to start and it did that, but then tried again right after and it started right up. I have also been having problems of it cutting off while driving but starting itself before I even roll to a stop. I have been thinking it is the fuel pump for a while now as I have a new battery and starter.

update -

Not good news. The dealer was swamped with cars this morning, and said the earliest he could get someone to look at the car would be sometime late Tuesday afternoon. From what I described, he thinks its a transmission and possible alternator issue. No loaner cars available either...

When your friend got it jump started- after driving would it restart?
Thats the easy test of the alternator- it should recharge the battery
Not unusual if the battery was dying to take the alternator with it

register here by your VIN https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=acura
and make sure you are covered on the 7/109 trans warranty
If so- breathe easy- its free
If not- we can help you get coverage- those transmissions are worth 4 grand installed!!!

Note- Monday drop-offs
Shop meeting is held for an hour or so- creating a backup of cars
Customers in for service get dibs on the loaners
Once your car is diagnosed- they will find a loaner for you

well going off the video, its NOT trans or alt related. The car cranks just doesnt fire or run.
when you get it running what happens if you floor it.

Also forgot to ask, is there a Check Engine Light?

Thanks for all the advice!
My car is covered under the recall of the tranny. My car did restart and I actually drove it to work this morning. Im dropping the car off this thursday am. One question, for those that have taken their cars to get a free diagnostic(autozone) would anything about the tranny come up on their codes?

You know how to reset that, right??

Hold Select and Reset buttons and turn the key two clicks and continue holding the two buttons til the light goes out.

there are 2 totally different things- the recall was to install an external oil jet kit
The other one is extended warranty to 7 years 109k miles
Mid 03 they made a cutoff date by vin for purpose of the lawsuit- not that it was fixed by then
