A/C problem help

My 2002 TL 's A/C is not as cold as it used to be.....Does this mean it need freon??
Can someone give the the range of the pressure (low/high) for the TL's A/C system. Also, can someone give me some instruction to pump more freon in (if it needs it)...Thanks!!!

I use this to test and recharge

The blue hose at the bottom can be used with a small can of 134-A to give your system a recharge, but you need to verify how much you need so you don't put to much in and to test if your system is leaking. This is where the charging manifold above is used.

Also you need to be careful not to introduce air into the system. You can buy a basic recharge kit from pep boys or auto zone, but be sure you feel confortable about doing it.

134-A Level
Max-22.9oz
Min-21.2oz

1. Check freon level
2. Check for leaks
3. If no leaks then recharge system with proper amount

Thanks for the info optomos...
But as far as the max/min (22.9 / 21.2 oz), what the PSI should be as shown with blue/red gauge? Thx.

You have to convert KG to PSI

http://convertor.dot.ro/presiune.htm

Max- 0.650kg
Min- 0.600kg

Just plug in the kg into the chart and it will tell you at what PSI and Bar you should be at.

If the car is not low on R134 coolant, you may want to change your cabin filters (behind the glove box) if you have never done so. Eventually, enough debris and trash gets caught in the filters and restricts airflow and the effectiveness of the climate control as a whole,

How do you get this measurement? Is it from the Helm's manual??

Thanks optomos...I didn't see that little plague

It looks like I'll need to buy that gadget you have in the picture to measure the current system's status....It seems like there are three hoses..One go into the low pressure side (blue cap on TL) -> blue hose, one into high pressure (green cap on TL) -> red hose...What's the middle for hose for? Also, when I charge, do I change into the LOW pressure side? Thanks.

Additional question: Where is the dryer-receiver (location of the sight glass)

Actually I don't think this is right.... PSI wise, it's like min: 8.532 and max 9.242 psi....

Here's the info I got from Kris, he has an AC manual of some kind. This is for a 99 but should be similar for most 2nd Gen TL's. Whatever you do, don't over charge it or the pressure will actually go down. Start out by putting in 4oz or so.

Low Side: 20 to 36 psi
High Side: 215-310 psi

The dryer is here

I don't see the sight glass so maybe someone with a shop manual can chime in on that.

Your right that psi is not correct. The max on low side is 45 psi for our Acura's and high side will be a lot higher, brobably around 200+. Low side is what you need to know though since that is where you will be adding the freon.

The center port on the manifold is for connecting a pump to evacuate the system and to connect the freon can to recharge.
