A/C not turning off
A/C not turning off
Hello everyone.
This is my first post here. I, recently, purchased a 2002 Acura TL Type S. I love the car but noticed something strange with how the A/C is operating.
When I have the A/C in manual mode, set to off, with the fan blowing at speed 3. It feels as though the A/C is still running. The outside temperater was 78 but it seemed as though the air blowing into the car was much lower (e.g. 73). The temperator setting was set to 73.
Is this how other TLs are operating? I have Honda Pilot and this isn't the case. Thanks for the help.

I can't hear the ac compressor turning off and on when I hit the buttons. So, my guess is that it's not switching on and off but staying on all the time.
I was just at the acura dealership. They gave me this BS story that the A/C is supposed to be auto controlled even when the a/c is set to manual off. I had to explain my situation 4 times to 4 different people and they still didn't WANT to understand. Basically, they told me that ac is working. I told them that it's not working the way it's supposed to.
A technician finally hooked up a computer to it and found that the a/c clutch stayed on even after hitting a/c off. Anyways, they said they need to look into it further. We'll see what they say. Much thanks for your help. Also, don't buy from DCH Tusin Acura. Horrible customer service. The service manager wouldn't even see the car even after a service technician told him that there was a problem.

After a five days in the shop, the acura technicians found that the wiring was loose that turns off and on the a/c compressor. They're working on it now and hopefully I'll get the car back from them this weekend. Boy, what an ordeal. I'm glad they're going to fix it at no charge.
Heard back from the Acura dealer on Friday. Bascially, they told me that they had taken the middle console apart in an attempt to find the problem (initially they thought it was an ECU problem). After relooking into it, it turns out, the cable that attaches to the a/c compressor that turns it off and on was loose. They tightened it and said it fixed the problem. I'm going to pick up the car today to see if it actually is fixed. I'll keep everyone posted.

Picked up the car today and the A/C is working fine now. I can hear the A/C turning off and on. The technician said that a electrical wire in the center console was disconnected. All they needed to do was to reconnect it. They said it took 6 hours to diagnose and fix. Boy, luckily I got the work done at no cost.
