Broken Motor Mounts???

Well, I bought my 2003 TL-S back in Sept. of 2007 wiht 60k miles after my integra got stolen in Philly, and am now getting ready to move from Dallas to Detroit. Right after I had bought the car, I took it to the dealership to get the 60k mile service.

I take my car in yesterday just for them to check things out and they tell my that 2 of my motor mounts are broken. My car's got about 67500 miles now. When I asked the service adviser if they should've caught it for the 60k mile service, he said that they must have broken since then.

Sound like I'm getting jacked around?

Nah, your mounts are most likely shot. They don't seem to last very long in these cars for some reason. I bet it's your front mount and right side mount. I had to get those replaced when my transmission got replaced at 75K miles. Everyone here seems to get the same ones going out anywhere between 60-80K miles. I'd just get them replaced and be done with it.

Front and side mounts are easy to change yourself. They usually fail first. I did mine 5 months ago. Cost shipped to me was about $120 to my door. It's an easy job if you have tools and time. Lots of advise and instuctions here on this site.

Normally found when car is in for trans problem- with about your current miles!
They can fail at any time- the techs do look for them as its a common problem.

Hows the transmission doing anyway- read the symptoms on the tranny failure thread before replacing mounts- its way easy to do the front with the trans removed, actual room for hand and tools to move
You may be due for a freebie

Anytime you doubt whats happening- meet the SERVICE MANAGER ...who is in charge of the shop and all its actions
The service WRITERS often get bonus commissions-- I will let you figure it out from there-

think of them as used car salesman- whatever comes past their lips needs independant confirmation

The manager can access the hard copy invoice the tech worked off of- if it notes the parts were bad or not - and the service writer forgot to tell you or call and have replaced at the time- is what they are supposed to do- but shops get busy and things happen

I'll be happy to help you with instructions etc. on replacing the mounts. Lots of post here if you wanna do it yourself. Put the car in drive / lock up the rear brakes/bloke the front tires and get under the hood and give it a little throttle in Drive. If you see the front mount lifting up/lots of play=it's shot. Same for side mount. Easy to replace.

Basically, the same story here.

In for 60k/6-year service, less a few DIY item's I've done myself (LOF, Rotation, Cabin Air Filter).

Actual mileage ~66,000; Actual Age ~ 6 yrs, 4 months.

Notified of broken front and side motor mount. $100 to fix at the dealer.

1st time in my life an extended warranty has paid off.

I paid about $130 for both mounts shipped and delivered to my door. Cost to install them=$0. Wasted money on an extended warranty=$0.

FWIW - my daughter drives the car at school which is 3 hours away. I "wasted" the extended warranty as INSURANCE in case SHE had a problem.

So, how about, you waste you money your way, I'll waste my money my way. Deal?

Yup, it was the front and the right mounts. The transmission seems fine. A little torquey when starting off and sometimes it seems like it can't decide between gears when i'm going 35-50mph, and that's bout it.
