Black material on window trim wrinking

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if the second generation tl owners have had this problem. I saw some old threads on this issuse but nobody ever had it repaired out of warranty. The reason i ask is that out of the four windows that need it only one is not wrinkled, so how much do you think they will charge me to get the one done to match the other ones.

so am i understanding you right that you dont have warranty left? If not its unlikely that they will cover it. As for the $$ to do it? couldnt tell you, mine are still in good shape

i am in the same boat with you, more less discolored. really noticeable on the middle pillars of the door, i was thinking of having it sanded down and painted then clear coated. i'd figure $100 - 150 to do it.

had this particular problem on 2003tls also. With 48k on it i took it in still under warranty. Look at all of your trim, i thought i only had one bad spot, they pointed out 5 areas. Iasked the acura body shop to paint them, but the warranty would only cover a retaping, so i suppose i'll have the problem again. Its a common problem on our cars & some of the honda models. Piss-poor design. Not sure how much it would have been if i had to pay for this fix, probably big bucks! good luck.

Its a plastic material like window tint. Mine have been warrantied twice by acura. both times they had to send it out cuz "it's not an inhouse job" so they said....?

BTW they've wrinkled again but i'm out of warranty so f|_|ckit

I talked to a service rep Named Matt at Acura of libertyville and He said that at his dealership they just repaint them, because the tape will just rewrinkle. So if that dealership repaints them then all the rest should do the same. However it might differ from dealership to dealership. Try just to have them paint it if they can, my car is in storage for winter so I'm having it done in the spring. Good luck everyone.

What really needs to be done is removal of the plastic covering and then repainting. It happened on my wife's at 22,000.

They redid all even though only one window trim was affected.
