Just wondering what are the symptoms one gets when a battery should be replaced other than the obvious dead battery. TIA

 

Slow starting, slow power equipment operation. Headlights dim when you use other power equipment in the car. Get a $10 battery tester at autozone or some parts place and see if it's running low. If it is just replace it with an Optima.

 

Or if optima is too expensive (I couldn't justify the cost being as I'll prob not still have the car a 8-10years from now when the optima dies) get an interstate mega-tron w/5year warranty. 800 cold cranking amps is plenty for here in the northeast. You want to get model MTP-24. I'd recommend optima though if you have a sound system w/ amps in the car or if you just don't want to worry abut your battery dying again.

 

If you go to any major parts store- they will come outside for FREE and test the battery, starter load and alternator output for you.
It will say what you need or if all is well.
Battery life is 3 to 4 years and then they die- just past warranty usually.
Costco sells good batteries, most parts store brands will do for normal drivers with stock stereo.

I have an 03 TL Type S and I noticed a couple of things with mine I thought were interesting.
The express down window stopped working. The lights on the front drivers door memory switch didn't light any more.
I can't complain, the battery lasted almost 6 years. I got mine at my local dealer. 150 installed and they un locked my radio. It was raining at the time and I didn't want to screw around looking for a deal and then having to go to the dealer and have them unlock my radio.

 

To fix your window auto down up feature, you roll your window down and hold the button in for three seconds and then roll it back up and hold the button in for three seconds. Happens every time I disconnect the battery, I have to reset the window, put in the radio code, and reset my drivers memory settings. The light on the memory settings won't light until you make new settings again. If your just died randomly it's an LED that went out, no big deal.
