Anyone used Aamco for their tranny before?
Any luck with their parts or service?

Thanks

Honestly....I wouldnt take my lawnmower there. Caught em one time telling me that a jeep manual trans needed replaced and when I found the part myself and went to pickup other trans from them...they had not even removed the inspection plate cover from the side...therefore they could not have diagnosed it as bad. When I took it to the place for a trade...the guy states (after pulling said cover off)....dude...I couldnt sell you a trans this nice and in this good of condition? Took it elsewhere and had it rebuilt for under $250...and brought them that unit back to reinstall. They were mad...but couldnt complain much. I am sure this is isolated....but transmissions shops can be real "buyer beware" situations.

Thanks for the feedback.
For transmission, I am leaning towards the dealer since it is their car, but it is pricey comparing to the value of the car itself.

I have heard the AAMCO charges 2500 for a rebuild with a lifetime warranty.

Is this possible and again has anyone here done that?

I know of a friend that had their Dodge minivan redone by AAMCO without problems for 1600.

It all depends on the aamco dealer. Some are good some are crooked. I had mine done there once and it was perfectly fine (differetn car than TL).

Seems like too much money. Brand new transmission is around $3500 and a rebuild is a 20-30 hr job + parts. $1500 would be more reasonable

They have a lifetime warranty, but you pay a premium for it. In most cars 6 years is plenty, but not for ours.
