99 tl 3.2 no crank after driving

Hi Folks,
My 1999 TL 3.2 has 199000 miles, in the last week its started acting up. It will start right up from cold, and runs really well, but if I park it and turn off the motor after driving, come back to it a after a few minutes, it will not crank. When I put my foot on the brake and turn the key to start, I can hear a CLICK noise under the shifter. All other electrical is working with the key on--windows, headlights, radio. I managed to get it to start after trying about 15 times, but it just left me stranded today. I'm gonna go back with a multimeter and a few tools and start checking stuff. I've read about a recall on the ignition switch,
Anyone have similar problems? Any fixes? Many thanks, RjE

Eichrj, You need to do a search and look through the threads on this forum. People will help but there is an expectation that people will use the search feature and read previous posts. If you look a few posts down there is a recent thread discussing the same issue. Here is the link

I suggest you read a few threads on this issue, there are many, with multiple causes for this happening, take a look and then let people know what is found so additional advise can be given that is related to your particular circumstance. More information is required to give specific advise. Right now I can only offer my initial thoughts and that is the main power relay as discussed in the thread in the link. I would buy or repair the OEM one. This seems to be the most likely cause, if not I would go with ignition switch, try banging on the column and see if it makes a difference.
Good Luck.

I have the same issue. Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution. Today, it gave me a P1298 code but not sure what it means. It stated something about replacing the Injector Driver Module (IDM), but can't find any video on how to do it.

Shabbakan,

Below is the page for the error code and some links to threads with this problem. You will need to start checking voltages. Check Battery voltage nonrunning, then running. Non Runnning should be about 12.6v DC, Running about 13.7 to 14.2 VDC. Check Fuse box (engine compartment). I haven't looked at them but there are several videos concerning this error code, you can google it.
