2002 TL Type-S radio serial and code problem. Need Help
I've just bought a new radio to replace my old and broken one but it didn't come with a code. When I hold 1 and 6 then the power the serial doesn't appear. It just says "COdE" no matter what I try. I've looked on the side of the unit for the serial and got a number (B00322206A) but it doesn't work on the my garage website to get your unlock code. The number (AJ044220) in the same place of the original radio doesn't work either. I still have the card that has a 5-digit number for the original radio. When i put this into the my garage website i get three radio codes for the original radio. Everything I've read says the radio serial is 8-digits but only this 5-digit number has worked to give me a radio code. This is a screenshot of the 5-digit serial working and a photo of the card it was on. The second radio code in the screenshot doesn't even make sense as it has the number 7 in it and the radio numbers only go up to 6. Any idea on how to solve this? Do I try to call the company with the number on the side of the unit? Does the number on the side have any value at all? Any idea on why the method to get the serial to show on the radios display doesn't work? Card from the car for the original radio. The 5-digit number is the number that worked as a serial for the radio.

I had this same problem. First off, what you have is an uncommon error, but not unheard of. It can happen any time the radio is cut off from power, such as removing a fuse or disconnecting the battery. It's a pain in the butt, but you're going to have to pull the radio back out, disconnect the antenna from the back of the radio, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in and reassemble. When you've got it reconnected to power, the code error should be on the display. The anti theft codes can be found on multiple sites and I had to try a couple before I found one that worked. Once it did, never had another problem, and I've had to disconnect power for various reasons since. Code has always worked. It took me weeks to figure out that's what the issue was. 🙄
The code should be inputted when the antenna is disconnected. After that you can plug the antenna back in. Many have put in an antenna extension of a foot or so and routed it so that you can disconnect the antenna without taking the console apart.
