Yes, there have been several post February 2005 transmissions that have failed.

Where the symptoms of the failure the same as your last one?

But far fewer than those before it. Even something that doesnt have a problem has the chance to fail(just a reminder that it can happen to something thats not supposed to)

Yes, I agree. Pretty much any mechanical part or assembly can fail, even those that are very well designed.

It's hard to tell from forum reports but the revised design does seem to be holding up better than the original design.

Update -

Acura did cover the new transmission with a 90/10 split. I paid 10% parts and labor. Had them do an oil change and rear seal while they were in there. As I paid 10%, I now have 3 yr 36k warranty. Cool deal.

Thank you Acura.

I gotta take mine back in. It's been almost exactly one year since I got mine replaced and it's starting to slip between 1st and 2nd when it's cold and sometimes between 2nd and 3rd. It'll occasionally do it when it's warm also. I want to get it checked before it gets worse and before Acura tells me to take a hike.

Now I'm taking it in for sure. This morning I was late for work so I was driving a little "spirited" . Anyways, I came up to a stop sign, stopped, and then quickly accelerated to continue and the car revved up like it was in neutral. I released the gas pedal then I pressed it again and the car shifted back into gear and I continued. I'm noticing random slips more often now. I hope they cover it, it's been a year and 14K+ miles since it was replaced.

That's amazing. Did your first replaced trans come with a 3/36? I would figure 3/36 would mean just that......3 years or 36k miles. After that, you're on your own. You're VERY fortunate that your dealer took care of you like that. They didn't HAVE to do a darn thing.

1st was covered 100% in 2006 with 65k on the odometer. I had the Acuracare warranty in place, but was not used for that replacement.

I had the first at 73K, covered under Certified Used car coverage. That one failed after 56K at 129K, and they went over and above, covering it all, rental, towing, the works. I have 40K on this one, which was replaced 7/07, and I think I'm getting some symptoms...hesitancy up hills in 3rd, some hunting for gears intermittently, and then yesterday on the way back from Louisville to Atlanta, I got check engine light and VSA light and triangle, with some vibration under load at 55mph-ish. Stopped, shut the car off, turned it on, and kept going. VSA and triangle went out, check engine stayed on. As long as I was at 70-ish it was fine, even on hills, but when traffic slowed me down and I was under load 55-ish up hill, it happened again - check engine flahing, VSA and the triangle came on. I got through Chattanooga, and past the hills, and stopped again for gas. Check engine light came back on, but the other two didn't, and got the rest of the way home fine. I don't have a 'real' tester, but the only thing I could get to read a code said bank 1 o2 sensor. Time to go digging through the threads for ideas.....

Haven't been able to anything 'real' to go wrong, but I do get a hesitant idle when I come to a stop. Seems to 'almost stall' then pick up again, then 'almost stall' again, and does 3 cycles of that (if I'm stopped long enough) and then it's fine. Check engine light hasn't come back on....yet...
