02 type s will not start.

I have an issue starting my car and thought I'd run it by the knowledgeable people here.

My wife's 02 type s won't start. She went to a b day party and came out... Nothing. The shifter will not move out of park, and the instrumen panel( mileage, trip computer etc) is blank. When you turn the key it cranks just fine but won't turn over. The battery is brand new so I know that's not the issue. The gauges don't even sweep back and forth when you turn the key.

I have no idea what the issue is. It's done this once before but it started after 30 minutes on it's own. I tried for over 2 hours this time and nothing.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you

to make the shifter release: remove that little cover on right side of shift lever
Insert car key in slot and push down to release,,while holding brakes on of course!
then shift to N, remove key and insert in ignition- start

it can be from a failed brake light bulb- that will keep it from shifting
OR
the no start with it may be a blown master fuse

how many miles- timing belt been replaced if over 105?

anyone else had same prob and fix???

I've checked all the fuses that I know of. Where is the main master fuse? Is it the 60a under the hood? The instrument clusters backlight comes on but nothing else. No brake warning, check engine light, nothing. All that is blank. I thought about it being a faulty alarm but I don't know how to disconnect it.

We did shift remove the shift release and shift to neutral. Still no start. I also tried to jump it just to test the battery, nothing. All lights come on, the nav comes on no problem. Just will not start. All it does is just crank

Our gauges are supposed to sweep back and forth when we start? I know a couple cars do that, but I didn't know ours were supposed to. Is that a Type S thing?

That was a mess up. I didn't mean sweep back and forth, I meant move and light up. ( been riding in to many cadd's lately.)
