Hello guys, after reading all 7 pages. its great to see all different views of the "VIP". Basically if you are not running the larger Toyota or Nissan platforms then it will not be considered true VIP.
VIP was for the style of the mafia of Japan. Its basically simple, clean, and usually black or white in color. The interior is accessorized for comfort and luxury. The mafia rolled in the large Toyota LS or Celsior(sp?), Nissan Q or (Cima) or other larger platforms.
The basis of the body kit was to make the car seem larger and wider. This allowed for crazy wheel fitments. People would go to the extreme to tuck and stretch the tire on the widest possible wheel that extends to the fender lip. Thus giving the wide and large profile.
The air suspension is used basically for tucking the wheels as far up in the wheel well as possible. This would be an image factor. The "slanted wheels" or extreme negative camber is set up to clear the fender and tuck the wheel as far up as the suspension would allow. Thus this is why with air you can run the crazy outsets and wheel widths for the most lip possible.
All other cars besides the larger body platform and rwd cars can be classified as "VIP Style". examples of the proper platforms was mentioned like the Toyota LS and GS. The Nissan Q (Cima) or M (Fuga). Honda did not produce a platform that was considered traditional VIP. It was VIP Styled but not true VIP.
The reason for the Jags, Mercedes, and euro brands considered is because the Japanese took ques from them. You could fit large wheels with large lips and tuck them on a Benz or Jaguar easy. If you read and do the research on all the VIP brands they will tell you where they got there inspiration. Junction Produce is the prime place to start. They are the official car club now company that started the VIP scene.
Overall our TL can not be a true VIP car. But it can be VIP Styled. There are numerous examples on the forums, III, Rev01 (no longer has TL), and others that i can not remember. Hawaii guys do it right and its not just because you slamm the hell out of the car its the perception that you get when the car is lowered to the ground. Its low and wide giving the perception of the car a whole new meaning.
Look up companys like Junction Produce, Fabulous, Auto fashion (US company), Air Runner, Canovers and Garson. They are the perfect examples to learn about the scene.
It can be pricy because of the price of the items. Its like puchasing a brand like LV or Hugo Boss but for cars. I was able to get sort of close but still lacking the air which I want someday. VIP is not able power or handling, its about the perception of escorting a VIP in the back.
Happy VIP Styling! its fun, simple, and clean. Everyone on the car boards will lend a hand. but make sure you do your research first! some guys will eat you alive!!

sup J thanks for the shout !
however with the new gold wheels ive got on now, its starting to stray away from vip. although ive always thought of my car to have more of an EXE look than VIP anyways (here goes a whole nother topic)...
all 7 pages of this can really be summed up into several key words... stance, low, extreme wheel fitment, clean.... if you can get these all to work, chances are you'll be on your way..

i love driving slammed. thats half the fun.
true vip cars can't ride slammed since its basically impossible thats why they have air ride and jump back up. (unless you live in hawaii )
whats the fun in that.
plus the two cars ive driven that had air ride had horrible suspension and were no fun at all to drive.
