Avic D1

I bought the D1 + DD kit late last year but never got around to getting it installed. Since I really suck at complicated installation and wanted someone to be held accountable if things went wrong (i.e. NOT ME!) I contacted uncald4/Travis, who happens to be the install manager for a Car Toys store 90 minutes away from where I live. Great guy who did a great job for a good price and was very accomodating.
The job took 4 odd hours total. Steering wheel control works, even though there is a second delay in transmission. Stock sub works and the speakers work. They sound like stock, if not better. But note that I'm no audiophile and I do like the stock sound somewhat. I've also done some custom setting with the D1 unit's EQ program since Saturday, which was when the install took place. The kit looks almost stock. Even though it wasn't made for the D1 (there's a pic below that'll explain it), fit and finish is excellent and I think it's worth the purchase price.

Here are some pics I've taken. Note that the guy in the first two pic is Travis/uncald4 and he was the only one working on the car. A fact I really like.

The DD Kit had to be modified to allow for the screen to be open. Here's a closeup.

And it works

Here's my favorite pic. Even though the greens don't quite match completely, they gel quite nice with the stock lighting.

I had a quote from Car Toys for about under 600 for the install which would include the pac unit and rca cable. He did it for much less than that for me since I was an Acurazine member.

It's the one in Silverdale, across from Kitsap Mall. I'm gonna try to come to the upcoming meet so if you're going, you might see it then.

The D1 doesn't have video capability. You have to get an additional DVD player and hook it up to the available AV input cables. This is why I want the Z1 But alas, I don't need it now, so maybe early next year . Let's hope the wifey agrees

Wow..... That looks way tits!! I'm glad that you're happy with it. Those few hours with your car inspired me to tear apart mine. And still it sits. Stripped. I'm pouting until I have time to put in a new double-din. It looks way factory in your car.

Thanks again for letting me work on your ride!!

Nice install now worry about it getting stolen. Might as well invest in an alarm system since this din's hot on the streets right now.

Thanks to you . I'm loving the factory look. This should be the next thing you do (Z1? ), beside the OEM kit and lowering it.

Thank you. Though I must say that I hate you for jinxing me like that This became the reason why I'm against a bigger set of wheels for the car now. The more stock it look outside, the less unwelcomed attention it gets.

I don't reckon you will get many people trying to jack your screen. It looks more stock than the stock deck did. And when you get tired of your factory sub.....

It's not FREE AIR. It's completely sealed and built with to the specs of the sub.

Yup. That setup you have is exactly how I would like to do it. Though I would try to go with a shallow Pioneer sub to maximize space and with a matching carpet cover.

WOOT Is that a 12" sub? That setup but with either an 8" or 10" will be awesome.

BTW I was playing around with the setting in the D1 and was able to get the system to sound close to the original setup, which sound more "muddy" than I remember... I'll fidget around with it some more later this week.

I don't do 12's. Every car I've done has been either 8's or 10's.

Sorry. I did not mean to sound disgruntle. I think I misplaced the "beats" in your sentence.

Thank you for your compliments!!

I would have rather done it in the Harbor....... but...... my shop probably won't be open until around December. So until I have to keep my ish clean and do what CT wants me to do.

Hopefully I can get the TL back in fully working order by Sunday.

The finest custom shit!

I'm offering the double din dashkits for the TL/CL. Custom fit to the car as well as the screen of choice. The every kit is test fit in an actual car, with the screen before it is shipped. Thanks to the problem that we had with yours. I don't want any surprizes when the customer attempts the install.

I'm also doing custom subwoofer enclosures for a lot of cars. TL, CL, TSX, Audi, Scion, Civic Si and 350Z... all them. Things are going very well. I've been swamped with orders for the double din dashkit.

Pretty much anything custom. I'm doing it.

Check out the MySpace link below. When you gonna have me build you them beats?
