2009 tl manfold in a 2g tl-s

thought id show off a lil bit seen a few cl's have this thought id try it out... heres some pics of my new manifold installed.. i didnt install it myself i got my mechanic to do it for me.. havent wired the imrc just yet. but will soon when i have a day off work.. for now i left the butterflies wide open. and as far as having idling issues i had none. started the car up and everything ran perfect. i reset the ecu and everything runs great.

i feel alot more torque gain especially mid range power... i will get a dyno done soon. to see how much ive really gained. although my butt dyno telling me atleast 15 whp and a shit load of torque.. now i dont get any traction in first gear anymore lol

and i know i need a engine wash

It's only $191 from this dealer, http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...s=&view=normal

But I'd suspect you need to buy the cover separately, and maybe the gaskets. does this one just fit right on top or is there some weird adjusting that has to take place?

Looks-wise, it's obviously not made to look good in our engine bay...maybe paint it black or something?

great job man. not only have you gained hp from the new technology, you have done some weight reduction. i was cleaning the TB and IM on my type s engine and noticed how heavy that damn setup is. compared to the 09IM being only 10-11lbs

took my mechanic about a hour and half to remove old manifold and put on new one. its straight drop in.. all u need is the manifold itself and the top plate cover, the p2r throttle body adapter and thats pretty much it.

just have to figure out which vacuum line goes where on the new manifold. and how to wire the imrc because it is electronic not like our old one which was pulled open by a cable. and thats it

car feels like a whole different beast now. i cant wait to wire the imrc to make it open and close properley because i know im losing a i little low end torque from having the butterflies left open

and as for weight reduction the old manifold feels like it weighs about like 25 lbs or something that thing is so much heavier then the new one

cost me $250 usd picked up for the manifold itself from a dealership in the states and i got the top plate cheap at the acura dealership here in canada for 60 bucks

i dont know why the top plate is so expensive in the states.

and the p2r adapter was around 60 something bucks

and labour for install was just 80 bucks

I wish I had the money This is definitely a cool mod I would be interested in. I'm very interested in seeing the gain from this too. Once again...GREAT JOB!

Write a DIY and the mods will probably put it in the list (once you figure out the wiring), definitely worth it.

it could if it works for a type s tl it should work for tl-p as well the only thing i might be worried about is the tb adapter not lining up with the tl-p throttle body

i'm pretty sure the thermoblock spacers/egr port cleaning DIY has detailed instructions on how to remove/replace the intake manifold. shouldn't be too hard.

on a 99 TL. Not that there is much difference, but they definitely don't "look" the same. Maybe I'll write up a DIY for the 02-03 Type S crowd when I clean my EGR ports soon

ah, i just checked the DIY (i hadn't used it) there are a few differences, but mainly cosmetic.

the only difference for installation and removal purposes is the plate on the top of the IM. gotta take out all the bolts and nuts out of that, pull the plate off, then inside you'll see what the 99 already sees.

thought i'd point out that the 99's can only clean the EGR from the bottom, whereas the newer designs you can clean it out from top and bottom (way more access that way). just thought it was interesting.

not only that, but you can take the plenums off of the IM and clean each port by hand. very nice design.
