Well i think my wifes TL is on its 2nd New trans (at the dealer now).

Does anyone know anyone in S.CA that can do this swap on an 01 TL. This replacing tranny's every year is BS.

If not i guess i would need to DIY this project. (boy shes not going to be happy, lol)

 

^ there isn't a DIY it's very intensive. There is a parts list for both conversion options, and plenty of people here that have done/are doing the conversion or that have knowledge about it to help you out.

There is a guy in North Virginia who can do all the work and get all the parts for you as well as anything extra you might want, but it's not cheap (although quality is top notch).

Phee is in Atlanta, GA and can most likely work a deal out with you if you/he were willing.

This isn't a small project, just keep that in mind. You'll need to acquire nearly all the parts before you do anything if you plan on doing this in a weekend, otherwise your car will be down for a considerable amount of time.

 

its honestly not a hard job. getting the parts is the hardest part of it all. but im kind of mechanically inclined.

Today I will be working with Phee on his swap

My question is have you came up with 99 module that work?
Because i know Phee has 99 but he swap out for TL-S engine. Basically switch out engine is mainly more horse power, better engine or other reason?

Hoping doing this with Phee sometime before 09 is over.

 

^ its not the engine that the module is dealing with its the ECU. Yes he has a working 99 module.

thats what ill be doing. good old acura cares will be doing my trans and hopefully the mounts too. once i get that done ill be selling it to someone either here or locally, ill even offer install too. all that money will go towards my motor and trans. ill probably put the odyssey or mdx 3.5L in my car.

there is no way you are spinning the tires 3-4 unless you are really boosted.

and yes i can spin going all the way into 3rd. on new tires i spin when Vtec engages in 1 and 2

 

i spin on the highway in 3rd if i stomp on it (when i spray of course)

 

I can get my 235/40/18 to spin going into 3rd (except for hot sticky days) but even with the stock tires getting them to spin into 4th not without FI or like tom spraying in the TL/CL

I have a 2003 tl-s and want to do the 6mt swap if my 5at goes out. Can you guys recommend a shop in Arizona?

 

alright I know this is all about the TL and 5 speed trans but I have a 97 CL with a 3.0 and a 4 speed automatic and am trying to get the parts together to bolt up a 6 speed manual to my car because i am sick of the glass transmissions we have in our cars. Is there any way something like this would work on the 1st gen CL? There has no one else on this board done this on the 1st gen CL and that's why I am looking to the TL guys for information
