Type S vs. base model taillights

Hi everyone,

I have the 2000 base model TL, does anyone know for sure if the Type S red/clear taillights will fit my body style? It looks like they're the same thing but I don't want to spend 150 bucks and then find out they barely don't measure the same. Everything I see for the type S tails is year 01-03 or something like that.

Thanks!

exact fit,, i have a 2000 tl, with 03 tl-s tail lights.. the only difference is the hole for the blinkers is bigger in the 02-03 tails, so you'll have to use electric tape to make the bulb stay in... which doesnt affect the performance at all, trust me... so with confidene, Buy em and enjoy the new "cleaner" look lol

1999-2001 tail lights have the amber corner signals, 2002-2003 are red and clear, doesnt matter if its type s or not. and like the guy above mentioned the turn signal part wont fit properly, so like he said electrical tape works fine. I found on ebay a salvaged TL someone was parting out and got new wiring harnesses for around $25, its plug and play really easy to do no special tools. I did this to my 01 TL

Make sure you get amber turn signal bulbs. The 99-01 tails use a clear bulb because the lens is amber, but you'll need an amber bulb for the clear portion on the newer tail lights.

The law in most states require amber turn signals, plus its a bit safer. People get pulled over for that here in CA...

i have clear bulbs in my front and rear turn signals. i think it looks awkward if your going all clear and have to have the bulb amber throws off the flow. or just get switchbacks and solve all your problems lol. stupid CA laws.
